Visual media is everywhere. This means that music “Sync” licenses are a great way to generate income from your tracks. Learn how your compositions can become solid platinum in this important course by music biz expert, Dr. Paul Bissell.
It’s simple: visuals need music. Whether it be film, TV, web or any other media, your music – when synchronized to visuals – requires a separate, special license called a Synchronization License. This so-called “Sync” license gives the producer of the visuals limited rights to synchronize your music to picture. So, what does this mean? Very simply: More money in your pocket!
In this course, the highly informative and always entertaining Dr. Paul Bissell leads you through the whole sync licensing process. You learn all about the synchronization basics from the perspective of all the different players involved; the producer to the composer and everyone in between. Dr. Paul explores negotiation tactics, contracts, fees, PROs and cue sheets. You learn all about Work-For-Hire agreements and how they may impact your ability to monetize your music in the long-term.
This course is required viewing for every musician and producer, to make sure that you get the most out of any licensing deal that you make. So sit back and watch this and all of our other courses in the Music Business series so you can get out there and make business deals that will benefit the most important person you know: You!

I have a lot of great notes after completing the music business 101-104 courses on MPV. The synchronization license workarounds in the industry and information that isn't necessarily textbook material is what I think makes this course worth your time. There is definitely more ground to cover, and an advanced business course series would be a great addition to the business content on MPV.
Well this four course on music business was quite intriguing. I can see why some people fail & exceed at it. Knowledge is definitely power to all who have it & and can you at will. so i can say for sure that i will be watching all these courses again, again, and again, until its stuck in my head completely.

Essential viewing for anyone serious about having a career in music. This is a great conclusion to Dr. Bissell's four part course. The information here may save you possibly months of personal research and headaches. Clearly Dr. Bissell has an extensive knowledge base on this subject. He guides the viewer through confusing business concepts with a relaxed and entertaining style. LMAO at the "Truck Month" jingle. Bottom line, these are some of the best courses on MPV. Miss at your peril.
