Hi djyouss & welcome to the forums :)

You'll need to provide more info so we can help you:

- version of FCP & DVDSP
- format you encoded the video to in FCP and all options.
- How big is the video you are trying to burn to DVD (look at the size in DVDSP)
- Have you updated FCP & DVDSP & run all the pro app updates?
- What version of Quicktime are you running?
- What Media are you using? i.e. DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, dual layer, etc...

Have you done this before successfully using the same procedure?

Cheers

Hi Rounik,Thanks for your reply,
-i m using FCP 5.1 AND DVDSP 4.2
-original videos are .AVI imported to FCP
-The Video i m trying to Burn in DVDSP is 1.80GB
-No i didn t do any updates
-i m using a normal version of quicktime(not the pro)
-Media i used Imation DVD+R16x/Sony DVD-R

it s my first time trying this procedure.i even tried to burn the same project using toast 8.0 after exporting it from FCP(using Quicktimemovie) and i get this: The Drive Reported an Error,Sence Key=Medieum Error,Sence code=oxoc.Write Error.
when i import the movie Into DVDSP in the Assets the status i have is a yellow dot alert.like i said i m pretty shure it s a format problem.Do i have to convert the movie to mpeg2 after exporting it from FCP and how can i do that if i don t have quick time pro and processor!?
thanks a lot.

The important info we need is:

What format do you export the video files to DVDSP FROM FCP...

So basically the video file you want to put on DVD. What format is it?

Yes, AFAIK, you need to export the movie from FCP in mpeg2 format.

It's all in the File > Export menu and you can choose Options... from the window and choose the format, video size etc.

If you prefer you can use Compressor to do this. It's a very good little app and come s as part of Final Cut Studio.

Hi,

I don't understand why you don't have Quicktime Pro or Compressor (the later definitely comes with Final Cut Studio). Might be best to install it.

If that's not possible then have you thought about importing the quicktime video into iMovie and trying to output it to mpeg2 from there. Not sure if that would work...

Compressor is really designed for this job and makes it effortless...

Or try googling something along the lines of Free + video converter + mac

I've found a couple of possible app's:

http://homepage.mac.com/major4/

Let me know if these (or any others) work for you.

Hi djyouss,

Sorry to hear it's not helped :(

well, the error message does suggest an issue with the media.

Can try using an external DVD burner? That would tell us if the internal DVD burner is ok or not.

Infact, try burning a data dvd using your internal DVD drive...

Also, you may just have been very very unlucky with the media you are using? If you can get your hands on some Verbatim DVD's. They've usually been reliable for me...

Is there an Apple store or an Apple reseller in Bahrain you can go to for hands-on help?

Best
Rounik
