    I am going to cry
I completed a mix of my band playing live in our studio, re-recorded some parts anyway, I finish the mix... I watch the strip silence Steve H master class tutorial - and I think hey I should try beat replacement on my bands kick drum etc...- so I figure I will "Save as..." and that way I will not mess up my original final mix. ..I go to open up my original mix of the song (good copy) a week later - OMG!!!! what happened Tracks were playing back at different sample and bit rates, kick drum regions are missing, out of time I don't know what happened it is a total disaster!!! can audio files be affected in other projects if they are used in more than one project?? Feaked Out !!! Jeff

Hi Jeff, The golden rule of saving projects as... in Logic is to copy audio files (under the Assets area) to the newly saved project. If you change an audio file which is being used by regions in another project then yes, both projects will be affected! Do check your save as setting... I always (try to remember to) keep backups of the original audio files. That's because one of my first paid gigs was recording and editing dialogue using Logic... and, yes I didn't back up the original audio files... and yes, I made irreversible changes... oops! Cheers Rounik

by the way, if the only issue is the sample rate (audio files at different bit depths will be fine when playing back!) then you can easily change the project's sample rate to suit or convert the audio files in the Audio Bin to the desired sample rate. Options > Copy/Convert file(s) Cheers Rounik

Hi Jeff, Ah, ok. I didn't realise you are using Logic 7.2.3. Assets are a new term I beleive in Logic 8. However, you can copy audio files to a new project in Logic 7, I just can't remember (at this time in the morning!) the precise way it is done... Is there no option in the Save as... window? Cheers Rounik

"Save as Project ..." allows you to select either ... "leave" "copy" or "move" -- Audio Files Jeff p.s. in LOgic 7.2.3 - anyway...

Hi Jeff, That sounds like the option in L7: "Save as project..." COPY -- Audio Files. That way you'll be altering only the copied audio files in the newly saved project. Cheers Rounik
