Finishing the arrangement
Hello, In Logic 8 101 tutorial 158, Martin removes a number of small regions from a sequence with the words" I can get all these out of there". He then clicks on each of them to remove them and then does something else so as to refill the gaps, making a solid, continuous region. However, try as I might I can't really grasp what it is he is actually doing, or why. Can anyone help? Mike

Hi Mike He doesn't say it's a continuous region. He says it's a continuous loop. To remove regions from the arrange area, click on them to select them and press the backspace key on your keyboard to delete them. Cheers Rounik

Hi Rounik, Okay, I can see that works as far as getting rid of regions is concerned but Martin then does something to fill the gaps. It's difficult to describe without am image so I grabbed a couple of pictures The first image shows the part of the tutorial described earlier and the second one shows Martin doing something similar a bit further down in the arrangement. In this instance he deletes some of the small intermediate regions and then goes to the channel strips and turn off 'Loop' and then enables it again to fill the area "to this blocker object" (the bright green region on the right. Does this help? Mike

Hi Mike, I'll post a thread soon on how to upload pics to the forums here ;-) I think I understand the question. Martin has one region looped. Somewhere, say Bar 32 there is another region on the same track. The first region won't loop beyond that 2nd region so stops to that point. Once you remove the 2nd region, the original region will loop to the next "block" (region) or the end point of the project. There are two ways of looping in the Arrange: 1. select the region, press "L" or tick the Loop checkbox in the Region parameters box in the Inspector. Logic loops the region until it "meets" another region on the track. Once that other region is removed, the original region's loops will continue to the next region. 2. Position the mouse over the top right of a region. The cursor turns into the loop tool. Dragging to the right will loop the region to a user specified point in the Arrange area. If you loop up to another existing region then if the other region is moved or deleted, the original loop will not continue (because the user has specified where the loop should end). Hope that makes sense :-) Rounik

It certainly does, Rounik. Thanks a lot. Mike
