Logic Not Responding, Please Help

Whenever I try and "save as" or open a new song from the file tab it freezes up. I have to do a force quit and restart Logic. I have Logic Pro 7.2.3 and my computer is a month old. I'm not sure what is wrong but I need to get this working right away before I take my logic 101 class so I can get my certification. Should I call Apple Support? Not sure where to turn so if someone can help me out that would be great.
