aux input phase cancellation
hey guys, got a puzzle for you: I have a loudspeaker that features an auxiliary input. When I use a standard stereo 1/8" to stereo 1/8" auxiliary cord from my phone to the speaker it causes phase cancellation. I have tried it on several other of the same model speakers with different brand cables, and different phones all with the same effect. I have fixed this problem by using a stereo 1/8" to rca, then rca to mono 1/8" adapter; but I want to know WHY this problem is happening. is it a manufacturer's defect in the model, aren't aux inputs supposed to be able to accept stereo signals ? I know the speaker is a single source, and in effect mono, but shouldn't it sum the signal down to mono without me having to adapt?
