    Re: MIDI Controllers
Heh BJ, How ya doin? Thanks for the MIDI controller info. (PCR M50). Man o man that one looks good too! I was reading a thread on the Logic Pro Help forum, and this is what David Nahmani (Author of Apple Pro Training Series: Logic Pro 8 and Logic Express 8 (Apple Pro Training) said in the forum: "I use both. Forget about the Axiom. It's a great keyboard controller with drum pads and good kb feel that they totally screwed up by making the rotary buttons "stepped". Useless for any kind of continuous automation like a smooth filter cutoff automation. The PCR500 is a great controller (the drum pads are tiny though)." OK, for a beginner in MIDI controllers, out of the Axiom 49, the Edriol PCR500, and your Edirol PCR M50, what would you choose? Thanks BJ. Jodie

Hey Jodie, EEk, these are tough choices. Is there any way you can go to a music store and take a look at these or even better try them out? the PCR5000 does look good... cheers Rounik

Hi Jodie, ...If you could, pop into a music store and have a play with the Rolands and see which one appeals to you... It is a tough choice, but, imho, either of the Rolands would be a good starting point... Cheers, Bj

Heh Rounik, I'm buying them via online, but I'll try and check out some stores here in Kyoto first. I'll let you know what I get. Thanks. Jodie

Hi again BJ, OK, so you're suggesting either the Edirol PCR-500 or the Edirol PCR-M50. OK, Rounik said that the PCR-500 looks good, and you say the M50, so maybe I'll lean towards the Edirol ones:) Thanks. Jodie

Hi Jodie, I have the PCR M50 and I don't remember seeing a PCR 500 when I bought mine... I think it's a later model... Also the PCR 500 appears to have extra features. Not sure of the price difference between the two, but check out their 'Tech Specs' and see which one most appeals.. Happy Shopping... : ) Cheers, Bj

Heh BJ, You're online now. Where do you live anyway? I'm from Toronto, Canada, but I live in Kyoto, Japan. Yeah, I think the main difference, other than price, b/w the PCR-500 & the PCR-M50 is that the 500 has 50 assignable midi controllers, whereas the M50 has27. Thanks again. Jodie

Hi Jodie, I live in Australia, there's only a couple of hours time difference between us... The 500 also has 18 Velosity Pads, the 50 has none... As I said, I don't think the 500 was around when I bought the 50, but it may have been... If you think the extra features will be of value to you go for the 500... I'm very satisfied with the 50, it fulfills my requirements at the moment... Cheers, Bj ( :
