Hi Sammy,
it might help if you post up some screenshots so we can work out where you're at.
For example, I've just done these to show you how the process should work.
1. First off, have some automation to play with on a track.

2. Choose the option you prefer for how to handle copied automation data in the automation preferences. I personally prefer the 'ask' option.

3. Option drag the region with automation you want to bring with it and you 'should' be prompted (if you choose the ask option) if you would like to have the automation copied across

4. Say yes... and your automation data should be there with your copied region.

Now, just to give you some options, there is a way where you can embed the automation data in to the region making copying and rearranging with said automation a doddle. Select the region with the automation data with it in the arrange page and choose the following from the Options, track automation menu...

The embedded automation data effectively gets turned in to Hyperdraw data (and can still be edited) it just makes arranging much easier. It looks subtly different but, like below.
