Hi all. I wanted to share a quick trick that might be of use when programming drums (or synths) in Logic. I own a Korg PadKontrol which I purchased because it was one of the only controllers with Roll and Flam functions. I found you can create this same effect with any pad style controller or keyboard with Logics delay line. My instructions will be very basic but I hope you get the idea. Note: if you dont have a midi keyboard you can also use Logics Caps keyboard function as well. 1. Go to the environment layer of your song (clicks and ports). 2. Insert (and cable) a delay line between the physical input and the sequencer input. 3. Adjust the delay line to taste. 4. select your Ultrabeat or any drum synth (or synth) in the arrange page, start recording your pattern. (Note the sequencer must be running for the delay line to work - see Martins excellent Logic Environment Tutorials for more details) When your finished un-cable the delay line and re-cable the physical in to the sequencer in. Thats it. I know its basic but its really fun and can be a time saver if you dont want to draw your notes in the Matrix or Hyper editors. I hope some of you find this useful. Happy Drumming!
