Hi guys. OK, so back in my bad old days, i worked for a company producing high end backing tracks by the hundred. They were used for TV, games, radio, karaoke, you name it - they used it. Only, at that stage it was mostly bands, and real sounds. I've just been given a large order (after a long time out of that kind of work) by a backing track manufacturer. They are asking me to produce backing track versions of a top 10 listing every 10 days or so for them - so I've got to be REALLY fast with the software (this bits fine) and super-quick at reverse engineering sounds. Problem is that I'm not in the least bit up on what synths are being used on things to produce pop/dance these days. I can't find out what has been used on the tracks I'm trying to make in the first order and I don't know where to find the right sounds... I'm more than happy to buy some sound sources, either hardware or AU's as most of the sounds seem to be fairly similar (wobble bass, buzzy synth leads and basses etc), but what to buy? That's my problem!!! To give you an idea what kind of tracks I'm talking about - here's the list of what I've got to reproduce right now... I've got Kontakt 3, I've got stylus, omnisphere, trilogy (not triljan yet) and I've got DFH superior for live drums, but it's the synths and noises that are the problem. Any ideas gang? Hi all. I'm in the Logic 9.1 and I'm trying to export audio to a QT mov - which, I've always done by going to file > export audio to QT mov. However, for some reason in my menus, the option no longer exists. It doesn't exist as a KC and i can't find any reference to QT mov exporting in any menu! Where is it, or am i missing something? Hi Rounik. Nope - I'm definitely using a movie - I've done this literally hundreds of times. I've been working on this QT.mov in logic for months.... Hi Rounik. You'll have to trust me that there is a movie inspector and I'm experienced at that bit... HOWEVER... Open logic in 32bit and back it comes - export audio to movie appears in the menu. Open logic in 64 bit mode (QT 7 installed on Snow Leopard 10.62) and it's gone again. Bizarre - do you think it's a QT issue? If so, it's a biggie for film/TV guys - if i can't export to a film for quick checking by the director whilst opening 64 bit VSL files etc, there would be no point ever running in 64 bit mode! What do you think? David

Hi Rounik. Yes, it's an annoying problem. Question - If i want to do it in QT pro, and use the "add to movie function, can i get it to "overwrite" current audio, or is it an "add only" function? I eventually did it in imovie of all things! Next time I'll use one of your workarounds! Thanks for this. David

Thanks Steve. It was a bit of a shock when the director asked for a version of the soundtrack to be bounced to QT and I couldn't find it! I checked under the bed, everywhere... :-) Rounik had a great idea - either put it in 32 bit mode and then come back - or bounce the audio in stereo and do it in QT directly - I ended up doing it in iVideo - which was hilarious as i had no idea how it worked! Hi all. I've just watched Steve H's tutorial on Logic in 64 bit mode. Very good. Just one question. I'm working with a client who has 4 gb RAM on her machine. Is there any advantage in Logic in 64 bit mode compared with 32bit mode in this situation? Also, if she runs any 64 bit plugins (like spectrasonics for instance) compared with running spectrasonics 32 bit versions, if she has only 4 gig of RAM, is there any advantage? Cheers guys. David T
