Apogee Duet and outboard

Hi everybody, I'm about to buy it but I have a question. If I wanted to use some outboard like eq, comp, delay etc...can I do it using a mixer with main out + control room? Since the outputs would be used.

Unfortunately I do not have the chance to learn these techniques by following a professional in his studio. So, since you are in my opinion (I'm italian) the best (and cheapest :) ) web teachers that I found; I would like to buy videos on these topics. Thank you (sorry for my english)
