MBP performance

Hi Steve, I am wondering my MBP 2.4Ghz with 4 GB Ram is struggling to play back a song with 5 audio tracks for the hook, it plays smooth until it get to the hook...is there anything I should look out for. Thanks

Good questions, Rounik. Versions are up to date. I am sending the tracks to a Bus reverb and on a couple of tracks I have the Tune plugin. Logic plays the intro and verse fine, when it gets to the hook it just drops out, no audio although the playhead keeps going. I have I/O buffer at 512. Will check HD space, I am contemplating transferring my audio projects to a FW 800 drive KcR

This is the first big project I did in Logic 8, the rest are in 7. Before the audio drops out I hear like a spike, instruments seem to play ok, audio multitracks drop out then back to instruments again. I have been laying audio regions on individual tracks. I have about 37 GB on FW drive, which has wirked with L7. Chris

Sub Mixing

With 10 tracks for a hook, is there a better workflow to apply same compression to all. Is it to output those tracks to a Bus or create an other output 3&4 etc then apply compression Thanks KcR

Hey Rounik Thanks again. I am sending all tracks to Bus 1 which has the Reverb. Should I insert compression there or send to another bus. Oh wait, bus 1 is the level, for compression I am sending the whole output, right? Chris

Hey Rounik, I agree, a seperate bus for compression. My music : african influence on funk, smooth jazz. And you? Chris

Rounik, I like that. I am feeling more empowered with submixing. I inserted a Multipress compressor...not too familiar with it....but I played with the presets and got some interesting vocals...since I am trying to build a choir like hook with all tonal ranges....Now I'll try your recipe for a Reverb on the same bus... Thanks again

Slaving LP8 to external hardware

I made a beat on the MPC 1000 and I could run Logic as master and the MPC was syncing to LP8. I then thought of dumping the MPC sequence into Logic for further editing. SEEMS I could not slave LP8 to MPC, is it true they disable the ability to slave Logic, that it has has to be master. If not is there something am missing\ Chris

Christian, Thanks for the reply. Logic works fine as master, I hit play and the seq on MPC starts playing. Now I want the MPC as master instead, did you mean 'Master'. Thats where I am stuck. When setup as slave, shouldn't tempo in Logic be 'ext'. Also I dont get any midi activity in Logic when I hit the MPC pads?

Hi, If I were to export midi data from Logic to MPC1000, is there a way to specify file type. I know the MPC accepts .seq files. Thanks KcR
