You probably mean you bought some .MIDI files, or downloaded them from some MIDI sites, right? Rounik: Can't we also do File->Import?

I got an M3 (and RADIAS) and I had to get a FireWire interface to patch the audio in as an AU plug Software Instrument. So I am (highly) doubting that R3 will work as a software instrument thrugh USB. The software must just be a library/patch editor type deal. Also I am wondering with your twaking bit, are you wanting to record all your tweaks in real-time? I have not done this with Logic yet myself, but can't we record all your tweaks (probably SysEX messages) into a separate MIDI Logic track? (This is a question to other experts on this forum.) Finally have you looked into using the built-in ES2 synthesizer? Master that and you can basically automate just about every knobs and dials on it real time. Need a bit of warmer sond? I'd pass it through the amp modelling. It is so good that I am almost regretting getting the RADIAS.

I am doing my best in the hope that othes can join and help us. But let us understand a bit more about what you want to do. From what I read, is this what you would like to do? 1. You want to record the MIDI of what you play from R3 first, right? Let's call that the melody track. 2. Then while playing back the sequence back on R3, you then want to move your knobs, dials and switches to tewak the sound on top of what you've played. Let's call this the control track. I think 2 is possible by adding another external MIDI track. So while you are playing back the melody track, you should be able to record the control movements. And another thing you might be able to do is to use the Hyperedit to further graphically tewak the control movements, for example, linearly increasing the cut-off on your filter in your keyboard etc... If you are doing the vocoder stuff, I'd first also record the raw voice into yet another audio track then feed that live back into R3 so you don't have to sing each take. Then once you got everything to be in your liking I will audio record as the "final" take. Hopefull someone more knowledable than me on Logic can clarify these.

Just let you know that I've found a couple of very knit picking issues on Logic 206 ES 206. At Chapter 5, 4 min and 16 seconds marker. Steve says Oscillator 2, but I think he should have said "Oscillator 3" At Chapter 30 and on, there is no Duration indication when the chapter begins. I am using Mac N.E.D. 3.0.1 No major functional issue and it does not materially affect the quality of the lessons.

I know I can easily create Apple Loops from an audio region, but there is one thing someone can enlighten me. Suppose that I want to loop over a 4-beat measure region and in it are ride cymbals on every 1/8th note. Pretty typical. The last cymbal sound in the measure would easily decay into the next measure at least to the first 1/8th, the first ride hit of a measure. I could chop/fade everything in one bar but that would sound awkward, right? What I want to do is for the loop to continue playing the last trail of sample a bit into the next measure while keeping the loop size to be exactly 4-beats in this example, so I can loop them. And I must have missed something in the manual. Thanks!

Hamish, and Rounik: Thank you for the quick reply. The example I described was just so that I can explain. The main question is how to create Audio Looping Apple Loops that contain long sustaining elements. It appears that for a Looping Audio Apple Loop, I have to confine all of the samples within the number of beats specified so it will be difficult to create loops containing long decaying/sustaining sounds in them. I was hoping that "S. Loop" part of the sample editor has something to do with allowing me making this happen... So to work (around) this, based on your answers, my choices (if I insist of AL) are. A. Make a non-looping apple loops and lay them out on two tracks alternately. B. Create multi-samples, load them into UB or EXS then possibly create MIDI looping Apple Loops to play each part.
