So When I use the clutch and the yellow 1 box goes grey, I STILL HAVE ALL ITEMS SELECTED FOLLOWING THE GROUP. so when in group mode if i drag one fader up ,they all go up (good, thats what I want) BUT when I use the clutch and all the yellow 1's goes grey again, IF I PULL ONE FADER DOWN well, they all go down, and follow like, well a group. So is this just me or is this NOT disabeling the group at all. do I have a bug? Amerikiwi

ok i think I am getting the hang of it now. by the way I am on a mac g4 ox 10.4.10 using Logic 8.1. a few things had confused me regarding the groups 1. after I had made a group, often it took a bit of playing with the clutch before it 'took hold' of the group. almost like it needed to think about it. I'v noticed this when assigning a control surface knob on my M audio Ozonic. that I sort of have to wiggle the controller a bit for Logic to learn the 'throw' of the object. what I mean is, I relation to the groups, I had specified a few channels to be in a group (drum toms) and then after the groups were enabled and the yellow light lit for that group, if I dragged down one fader it would not follow on the other tom channels. however, if I toggled the clutch on & off a bit, maybe two times, then after a few toggles the group would 'get it' and work. not right way though. 2. if I had shift clicked a few channels then they would act is if grouped already when it came to volume changes. un shifting them stopped this. ok, a Audio editing question. is there anything that will let me have a Alternative playlist of my tracks, like pro tools has playlists? I often mix live concert type recordings that use a lot of edits, often remove noise & junk. time well spent with a crowded stage and lots of tracks/open mics. before I made any edits I got in a good habit of select everything and making a 'safety' playlist as a form of a back up. so if I start making big edit cuts on, say the toms to 'hand gate' them, if I ever got in trouble with moving things around or wanted to start over if i nudged a region on accident - I could go to my safety playlist and everything was restored. this way I found myself not having to lock things down as much during the editing and 'clean up' of dropping noise floors. I hand gate a lot because it's then easier for me to use the result to sample replace against the hits I want afterwards if needs be. I want to do this in logic 8. been trying to use the 'folder takes' but it seems better for coping multiple takes than lots of edits. It seems like if i try this way every edit had a track. thats;s to much screen real-estate for me to have to work with. any ideas that could help. I love how the tempo ,marker & signature tracks have alternatives. do the audio tracks have the same? thanks people! Amerikiwis

Hello! i don't know if this is the best place to post this, but since waveburner is now bundled with logic 8....... is it posable to use wave burner to add more id tracks to one existing track. say I have one spoken word track 20 min long, but I want it to end up the cd as a total of four (4) 5 min tracks. will wave burner allow me to add tracks to a existing track? ok all you wonderful macprovideo people let's say I am sending drums out to two buss's - a drum buss and a Parallel compressed 'New York' style drum buss. I'd still like to be able to solo, say the snare (and only the snare) from within the 2 groups, without hearing the rest of the kit that's in the bussed group send soloed as well. I'm familiar with doing this in other DAW's but haven't seen it mentioned yet on Logic8. right now if I solo I hear everything in the Buss and not the one track I want to hear. any clues oh Jedi's? Ahh now i'm having a blushing moment..... Seems was sending all my drums to buss 1 & 2 (my 2 drum groups) but failed to see the input of all my drum faders were ALSO bus 1, thus sending the out to the in! now it's working fine. Funny that ! felling a bit of a twit. Amerikiwis

Ok macprovideo people I have another two unrelated questions. 1) First, is it posable to name the buss's? Let's say Buss one was a send to a drum group and buss 10 a 1/8 note Delay fx send. I'd love to see my fader channels say' drum' and 'delay' and not just buss 1, buss 10. any clues? 2) (sorry for the long winded set up here for my second question) I've been enjoying using a plug by apulsoft for realtime soundreplacment. The ' aptrigga2' ,is like soundrepalcer or Drummagog - it looks at a input, say a kick drum, and let's you use that source to trigger a new source like a drum sample from a library. (more on this plug in at http://www.apulsoft.ch/aptrigga/). ok so when I use this, say I am using 2 tracks for my kick drum, one is the original kick sound and the other is a copy of the original but with this Aptrigga inserted to trigger a loaded sample, common stuff nowdays. we'll when I play the two, as I expect it too, I am hearing a delay between the original drum and the sample because of delay latency, normal stuff right? ok here's my question to get around this common problem: I expect this delay, but what I want to do is now is to print a copy of just this altered sample audio so I can then ditch the plug in and time align the wave forms to get the two kicks in synch & phase. how would I do this in Logic 8? In pro tools I would use the plug in as a Audio-suite or RTAS mode plug in and render to file and then re align it. I know and love the 'freeze' feature, but I don't believe using 'freeze' would do it as it wouldn't show me the newly render waveform on screen and I need to see it to time align it to the original kick transient. any help would be great here! thanks so much people I am getting to really love this message board and find myself looking at it quite a lot. Help! ok Im doing a foley sound design thing right now for a short film using only lots of the stock Apple loops that are in the sound fx in the FX tab of the media bin. Stock Logic 8 loops. I am almost done but now im getting short bursts of what sounds like pink noise at seemingly random times on the files. I will say that the bursts are repeatable in that if I play the file at the same spot the noise is always there. I remember something kinda like this years ago with my old Ramsa Da7 digital mixer, if the word clock got messed up there would be a random clicking sound like finger clicking. but this is still very different. Did my file get corrupted? any Ideas? Amerikiwi
