i tried the repair disk, it spent ages doing something then came back with a red message saying drive error and it had failed. i then tried to verify the disc and within seconds the drive popped up!! im currently backing up and am a very happy man. im also backing it up onto a mates harddrive so i have 2 copies :) thanks for you help!

hey guys, the dvd drive on my mac has just packed up, ive been looking for new ones and ive found the superdrive. i also decided i may aswell up grade the ram but after doing so research im a bit confused. i was going to get 2 4gb cards but not sure if my model will support that. i did a model tracker that says i have to 2008 edition but doesnt say if its the early or late model! ive upgraded the ram before and got '2gb pc5300 sodimm (p/n er256564c2667) but still have room to upgrade the other slot which is best to get?
