I think I've used a limiter on every project since watching both Olav's tutorial and the R&B tutorial (which I do recommend BTW) to try to achieve a perceived increase in loudness if nothing else, plus the confidence that I'll burn without any clipping - I am also confused as to why a channel clips with no perceived consequence yet a master will clip and get distortion- are they both not digital signals? - after having compressors and limiters on channels, master channels and then on a master mix - I feel the mix can feel washed out - there really is a fine line there - and I think each project takes on a life of it's own - composing and mixing truly becomes art - very subjective - and takes a lot of experimentation. - I'm really just starting to learn about these tools as well.... so much fun though I listen to some CD's and they are so powerfull and in your face and my mixes seem ... weak.. kind of frustrating at times, or maybe it's the way I'm recording my original tracks... so many variables we just need to keep working at it and try anything that works have fun Jeff

I've only used logic.. I learned the basics of audio recording on old analog gear, and got out of recording for a while and recently returned, friends suggested logic. I guess you order your tutorials through the mail? do you have the ability to download them? that's what I do... you can watch them immediately, and then burn them to DVD's ( they only play with NED on a computer though.) I can't seem to watch MacProVideo tutorials when my Logic Application is open... no sound, also when I have iTunes open the sound goes all scratchy... only when logic is open I'm on OS X 10.4.11 and use Logic 7.2.3 and use a M-Audio Firewire 410 interface 1.3.2 - I use outputs 1&2 to feed my speakers and have optical outs sent to my Mac from Firewire

Hey Guys No particular reason - when I first purchased my Mac - I was unfamiliar with Firewires and audio interfaces - so I purchased optical cables to route the "audio signal" back to my Mac from my audio interface. Is it necessary to re route the signal or does the Firewire cable take care of that? I figured optical was the ultimate connection. - this all started because i had issues running my audio monitors from the audio output at the rear of my MacPro- I've since sent them from my audio interface outs 1&2 thus I thought i need to re route signal back to the Mac ( I used the optical cabels) - I have my audio sound settings set to "Firewire 410 Multichannel" - I don't have the "optical digital in port" selected. thanks for the help Jeff

Pulled up the software and both volumes appear and neither are clipping but one is scratchy I'll try disconnecting the optical cables Jeff

I've disconnected Optical cables and no change -logic is clear - iTunes scratchy how do I repair permissions?

Hey Guys just checked my M-audio driver update page and it states there is an update for my driver and that there is a fix for distortion between multiple apps - sorry for bothering you - I am supposed to get updates from M-Audio - guess not Jeff
