There's a reason why Ableton calls it "Live". Dive into this course and get all the inspiration you need to go live with Live 9...
Bill Burgess –one of our most popular Ableton trainers– is back with a deep look at what makes Live 9 both a performer’s instrument and creative production tool. And, in the process, you get a deep look at how Bill, in his wonderfully casual style, concocts his unusual musical worlds.
This course starts off with a deep look at Warping. You learn Bill’s warped techniques that he’s put into practice as a live performance maniac. Next up is audio and control surfaces. Here you get some basic tutorials on audio and how to optimize your audio interface. Then you learn how to set up the all important cue mix.. an essential piece of the live performance puzzle. From there you’re into controllerland where you learn about control surfaces, the crossfader and how to structure your levels.
The following section is all about using effects (FX). Here, Bill dives deep into the different EQs and filters. You also learn all about live performance Racks, Macros and Side Chaining. There so much more to this course, but why spoil it? Dive in see how Bill goes live-wild with Ableton Live 9!

thank you bill i truly appreciate every thing you have taught me this man is no doubt a genius at what he does i recommand you watch all his videos he has truly taught me ton of great things i can use in my music thanks again
This is the best 100 level course on all of MacProVideo! Bill Burgess made this introduction level Ableton Live performance course seem like an advanced course that was really simple to understand, given the context of the material. I am centering my live production around Ableton, all while integrating other DAW's and workflows. Courses like this push me further in my production skills than the standard rote learning type material that it present in most introduction level course content. I recommend this course to any Ableton user.
For some reason I very inspired :). I'm more a producer guy but now I want to test all these cool tips that where shown in the video. Very nice thanks! Althought I have to say I didn't understand all the jokes... :D
very easy to understand. The instructor has a sense of humor, which is a plus.
Great! Lots of ideas are covered. I had to pause and rewind to follow the steps at times - not a problem, however, because I prefer content I have to review if I didn't catch it initially. Showing the use of the MIDI controller was also helpful to see what that all entailed. Also, this instructor is very encouraging in a fun way.
Pretty Legit Course. I can see it being rough for people with no Ableton Experience though. I would just have in the caption of 100 and 102 course to make sure users went through the Ableton manual and tutorials first. It helps alot.
Tutor was interesting, but for a 101 course I was expecting an introduction to music production in terms of track creation and recording rather than just on the live element only.
I was a little but sceptic at first, mostly on the parts with warping, it was hard to understand. But a kept on watching and what a reward! This is really good stuff that will get me going much faster in my learning!
Pretty sweet. Like the tutorial. Hoping for an ableton push tutorial soon hint hint.
Not a fan of this one. I like Bill's Live 8 101, that was great, but found this too dry, complex and hard to follow inc. the warping stuff
good starting point with what is an amazing pice of software ableton live!
It's an amazing breakdown of all things possible with Live 9, and examples of each, and in the last video he dazzles you with incredible Ableton DJ skills showing a lot of what's taught in action, with finesse.
I like Bill. Good tuts Bill! :).
side chaining and using the Launch window in detail for each clip, FINALLY understood, now I get it. thanks teach!
Wow! Not for nubies but rather aimed at DJs who want to incorporate much more into their sets than the usual channel mixing. Shows off the real power of Live's sequencing/FX; now a huge fan Bill!
Great ! this course give myself an idea of a way to use it on iPhone with Lemur app
I appreciate all Tutorials and would never give lower than a 3. That said, I'm new to Live and hoping that I could get into it fast with MacProVideo. I watched the 100, 101 and couldn't wait to get into the Producing Techno 405. Once I started watching the 405 I realized I didn't have near as much knowledge to do the actual tutorial. Things like Drum Instrument tracks and creating a song template. I didn't know how to create a 4 to the floor kick or record midi etc etc. I feel that maybe there should be a 101 geared towards producing music. I just didn't get a whole lot out of this 101 course, I thought it was stuff I already knew about recording in general. The warping was helpful, but other than that I'm left scouring the internet to find more info to do these tutorials.
Another great tutorial,Bill has delivered again Great in depth look how live could be used,in a concert situation, clubs etc Although I don't perform live, this is still a very informative tutorial, packed with content
Good course, nice self discovery odyssey scenes for bill! Maybe a mention of some other uses for live use like backing tracks for bands, vocal effects etc would have been helpful too.
Very informative tutorial, especially towards the end when Bill goes into all the routing possibilities with the different racks.
Wow! Amazing to have a tutorial released simultaneously with the release of the new version of Ableton Live. That's great. Plus, Bill Burgess is fantastic and very inspiring. Thanks!
