Learn the techniques of creating spatial reverberation FX in this deep listening course by the engineers at Singing Canary and Modern World Recording...
Reverberation. The most ubiquitous processing used to create a sense of acoustic SPACE in audio productions. In fact, most of us overuse it! In this listen-and-learn course by the experts at Singing Canary and Modern World Recording you'll get a better understanding of how to deal with the Spatial part of the recording process.
First off, you'll get the inside story on the different kinds of reverbs, what they sound like and how they are best applied. You'll see and hear the control parameters common to most reverbs, whether they are hardware based or advanced software plugins. This is followed by a section that defines pre-delay, reverb time, early reflections, density, diffusion and other important sonic qualities that help recreate the physics of acoustic space.
Once the physics of spacial simulation are embedded in your brain, the guys at Modern World dive deep into the practical uses of reverberation. There's a deep listening section on creating spacial FX for drums and strings. These two, vastly different uses of reverb help solidify the concepts enabling you to apply them to you own productions. This course concludes with a couple of tutorials on how delay and modulation FX are also deployed to enhance the spaciousness of a mix.
What we like best about this course is the amount of deep listening time the instructors have set aside throughout the tutorials so that we can actually hear the reverberation concepts discussed!

A good explanation of reverb, types and different parameters. In the end a bit of delay and modulation effects. If you know nothing about reverb, this is a good way to start.
Singing Canary Productions, lets see someone get training from a legendary production company in the convenience of their home other than on MPV? Cant be beat!
There are some interesting and helpful explanations. I wouldn't say is an amazing course, just like the other ones of this series from Canary Studios, there's a lot of times that a mixing engineer just played around with knobs and plugins without actually explaining. If you just jump those long videos you can learn something without getting bored.
Perfect, i just loved Clear and concise Well put together and great examples
Good course for the reverb part, but very brief when it comes to the delay. That being said, all the tutorials from Singing Canary holds high quality.
Basic course but to the point with some useful info for settings and when to apply them. Bad choice of vocal example to use over and over. Would have been much better using vocals with no lyrics.
Clear presentation but little information given beyond a brief description of the various controls and lengthy audio examples of different settings.
I just finished the Spatial Effects course. It's absolutely fantastic and although it's very well explained I'd sure be watching it again. It is surely a 5 star course and I'll recommend to everyone.
The Spatial Effects course is extremely insightful. I have used reverb before but never quite understood it like I do now. I'm just past the Reverb Parameters chapters and it now seems a lot easier.
I love how these guys really show you how to use effects to not only generate unnatural sounds but also to create REALISM! Great job!!!!!
Nice Tutorial on reverb. the demonstrations they give throughout the tutorial of how reverb works are very good in my opinion .
Quite a lot of good info here, it's great to see several different types of reverb plugins used to show the difference in sound. I'm a huge fan of the female singer in the examples, GREAT voice!
First of all let me say that this is a GREAT tutorial! With that being said it does a great job of covering the basics of spatial effect. I would give 5 stars if it were more in depth applications..
This was a good intro to using reverb and delay - giving some ideas on good settings to start from and how to adjust them so you can get the sound you want.
great course keep them coming. i own a number of your videos all extremely useful.
