“Every mistake is an opportunity to learn.” This course addresses 10 common compression mistakes and shows you how to correct them. Let US make the mistakes so YOU don’t have to!
Compression is difficult to understand. There are a lot of moving parts and this makes it difficult to learn, especially when you’re applying it to tracks in real time. That’s because Compression is a dynamic, fluid process that is influenced by changing input levels, musical genres and the kinds of tracks being processed. Things get even more complicated because compressors have many different kinds of interdependent controls that can quickly lead to serious audio problems. That’s why we created this “Common Compression Mistakes” course. We show you the mistakes and you get to learn from them!
Drawing from his extensive professional experience, expert engineer/trainer Joe Albano has thoughtfully isolated 10 common compressor situations that he feels can confuse new engineers and experienced ones alike. He dives into them one-by-one and then explains the solutions that he feels make the most audio sense.
So learn from Joe’s mistakes in this 10 Common Compression Mistakes course and use that knowledge to dive into your own tracks with “compression confidence” to achieve the best audio dynamic results possible.

This was a great course for brushing up on some potential habits (some not so good!) that can be formed over time when using compression. I'm now inspired to use some new approaches :)
This was a great course. Short, but covers an essential lot of information! Good gig MacPro!
Compression is such complex subject with a myriad of options with plugins & hardware that knowledge & help from experts is always useful to hear. It's one subject you can't get enough of.
Solid overview of some of the fundamental aspects of compression. Good course to brush-up on compression concepts or gain an understanding if you are new to the topic. Good section on the different types of hardware compressors, their functions and their software counterparts.
I think anybody who is either getting started or hasn't mastered compression needs to watch this series. These videos give a great ground for different ways to use this tool. Very, very well done!
Great Job! very well explained, very clear examples, very useful. This course is a great help for people starting with compression on their DAW.
Compressors are used widely at different stages of a mix. This course was a good refresher on how to use them and found the last two chapters specially useful. This his my second course with Joe Albano and I really enjoy his course. He's very good.
